Date #4

Well there is no question that I’m lazier when I have time off of work. Maybe I ate too much turkey and I'm still feeling its effects! All I know is that I often get less done on my days off than I do during my after work hours.  Funny how that works.  Anyway, here is this week’s date plan…

Date Plan: “Home For Christmas”

Specific plan details (catered to me...obviously it can be tailored as needed)

Start time: 5:00 PM
Start with “traditions worksheet” (I’ll provide a link later) to be filled out while dinner is prepared.  If more time is wanted or needed, you can continue to work on it while eating.

Dinner: 5:30 PM
Dinner is home-grilled hamburgers, short and simple.  It may be a long evening, so don’t plan on going out to a restaurant.  Use this time to continue to work on the traditions worksheet.  Once it is complete, either share them with each other or share at least those that pertain to decorations and “right-after-Thanksgiving” activities.

Activity-Prep: 6:30 PM
Go shopping for Christmas tree and any decorations that might be needed or wanted as well.  Consider more than just tree decorations.

Activity: Putting up the Tree (7:30ish PM)
Lights take the most amount of time by far.  The process can be accelerated if you can learn to work together.  This is a large portion of the activity.  Do NOT do all the work yourself!  Make the activity playful and fun, not tedious and “work.”  In other words, do not complain about anything.  If you have a gripe, keep it to yourself!

Tender Moment: Enjoy your labors (9:00ish PM)
Once the tree is up, sit back and admire your work.  If you are able, light up a fire in your fireplace.  If you don’t have a gas fireplace, get some wood and burn a real fire.  Seriously...when was the last time you used that thing?!  Get some hot cocoa or apple cider, put some Christmas music on, and just sit down and spend some time together.  If you haven’t already, bust out the worksheets from earlier and share them with each other...Welcome Home!

End time: 9:30 PM
