Last week, I talked about taking a bigger step towards “full-evening” dates. That first step was an effort to make the date last just a little bit longer. One thing that has been becoming slightly awkward is the fact that I've still been making dinner on our date nights, only dinner isn't technically part of the date. I touched on this a little bit yesterday in my Post-Op.
So this week, I figured I’d get that awkward little detail out of the way. I know I need to get to a point where I’m planning many more details, but I’m having a hard time staying focused right now. We are pushing some deadlines at work, which means we will likely be starting overtime right after Thanksgiving. I’m not excited about it to say the least. I only touch on this because it affects my writing schedule a little bit. After I've taken care of my responsibilities for the day, including my posts, I’m left with only about an hour or two to waste as I see fit.
Now I know that many of you out there are thinking, “I would LOVE to have an hour to myself everyday!” While I sympathize with your busy schedule, there is no need to go the rounds. Simply stated, we understand one another.
But none of that is truly important. I just needed to vent a little bit.
Back to this week’s date planning…
I think I've narrowed my options down to a couple of things. Seeing as how it is Thanksgiving weekend, Friday is going to be a very busy day. Also, we will be on our way home from visiting family in Idaho, so chances are that we are not going to be terribly interested in spending the evening outside of the house in a mess of traffic. The points is, whether you've started already or not, we all know that after Thanksgiving, no one will criticize you for getting ready for Christmas.
Let me just say, Christmas is my FAVORITE!! This is kind of a special year for the Princess and me...this will be our first Christmas in our very own place. Meaning we’re not renting and we’re not mooching off of family. So we have our own halls to deck… fa la la
On top of that, I’m pretty far on the young end of my family, and getting siblings together with all the thousands of grand kids just doesn't happen anymore. This has led us to (against my mothers’ wills) decide to spend Christmas day on our own.
Okay, so that’s a lot of rambling to come to this conclusion: This week could make a great time to make a date out of decorating the house!
What do you think? Have you ever made a date for such a thing? Or is there far too much hassle to make it an enjoyable experience? Let me know your thoughts!
